Portraits

Estos retratos forman parte del proyecto de fotografía que he realizado en Plymouth. Fruto de mi experiencia como estudiante en esta ciudad, he fotografiado a estudiantes que he conocido aquí en sus respectivos ambientes de trabajo habituales. Es muy interestante conocer a gente que en parte está aquí por el mismo motivo que tu, pero por otro lado cada uno con aspiraciones y intereses tan distintos. Esta es una de las experiencias más interesantes de estudiar en el estrangero y quería, de alguna forma, plasmarlo en las fotografias.

He trabajado con una cámara Hasselblad de medio formato, procesado la película en el laboratorio de fotografía y procesado y impreso las copias digitalmente. Esta ha sido mi primera experiencia con esta cámara, no fue fácil al principo pero poco a poco le he ido cogiendo la técnica... Creo que las posibilidades que ofrece son increíbles.

These portraits are the final selection of my photographic project in Plymouth. As an exchange student, I met a lot of people here that, like me, have come to Plymouth to study in an exchange program. We share most of our free time together but during the week, I wanted to photograph them in their common work environments because one of the nicer experiences here has been knowing people not only from Media Arts but also from so many different studies.
I used a medium format Hasselblad camera. I processed the film analogically and process and print the copies digitally. It was my first experience with a medium format camera and, even it was not easy at the beginning, I´m happy with the result. I´m proud to have been able to work with that camera because I think it offers a wide range of possibilities.

Metro 60 & Satoko Kojima en Music e-motion

Este próximo viernes 27 de Noviembre el colectivo Metro60 participamos con nuestro proyecto, Bcn-de-construction en music e-motion, una jornada artística en la que se mezcla la música contemporánea con la danza y el lenguaje del movimiento y la expresión corporal. Durante la jornada se realizarán espectáculos en directo así como proyecciones de videodanza.

Este video es el segundo de la serie Plymouth step-by-step. En esta ocasión, he experimentado más con el sonido ambiente intentando, de esta forma, dar más voz al paisaje. He intercalado también algunos primeros planos de la bailarina que dan un toque más próximo y personal al video.

This is the second video of the project of videodance Plymouth step-by-step. In this one I´ve tried to experiment more with the real sound of the landscape and I added as well some close-up shots that emphatize the figure of the dancer.

Este video forma parte de un proyecto de videodanza Plymouth step-by-step. Como estrangera en esta ciudad, quiero escoger los sitios que a mi parecer son mas representativos, mostrarlos y crear en ellos, a traves de la danza, pequeñas historias o narraciones. En este video la improvisación es el componente principal, tanto de los pasos de danza como de la edición posterior.

This video is part of a project of videodance in the city of Plymouth. As a foreign person living in that city I point my attention in representative areas of the city showing them and making, with the dance, a short history or a narration about every place. This is the first one of a serie. I like as well, experimenting with different dancers which different styles give to the video different perceptions, and also experimenting and improvising with the editing.

Este video es la documentación de una video-happening que tuvo lugar en la Sala Niu, el espacio artístico contemporáneo situado en el barrio de PobleNou de Barcelona. La actuación propone una posible formalización del proyecto BCN-De-Construction que encaja a la perfección con los conceptos y ideas que construyen nuestra propuesta. Este proyecto utiliza la danza como medio para hablar sobre las formas en la arquitectura de la nueva Barcelona que está emergiendo. Podeís encontrar una breve explicación del concepto en el post anterior, que es el video que se proyectó en la pantaya principal.

This video is the documentation of one video-happenning that was made in Barcelona, in the Contemporany Artistic Center, "Niu". This exhibition was a way to formalize our project Bcn-de-Construction. In the last post you can see the entire video that was projected as well a brief explanation about the project.

La idea de este proyecto parte de la voluntad de hablar del cambio constante que sufre la ciudad de Barcelona, lo que queda del pasado y hacia dónde se dirige en un futuro. Para reflexionar sobre este tema hemos utilizado una forma de expresión y comunicación a través del cuerpo, la danza. La danza, como recurso estético, nos ha proporcionado una forma de interacción con uno de los componentes inherentes y obvios de esta transformación: las formas.
Así, a través del cuerpo de la bailarina y su intervención efímera en los espacios, hemos conseguido crear un diálogo entre las formas orgánicas, efímeras, libres… del cuerpo de la bailarina y las formas rígidas, estáticas y frías de las construcciones de esta nueva ciudad que está emergiendo.

The idea of that project comes from the wish of talking about the city of Barcelona and the constant changes that are having place in there. We point our interest in what is still there from the past and what kind of city is becoming in a future. We have used the dance to talk about this matter. The dance is a way of communication and expression through the body. The dance, as an esthetical resource, gave to us a way of interaction with one of the obvious ingredients in this transformation: the shapes.
In this way, through the body of the dancer and her intervention on the spaces, we have created a dialogue between the organic, ephemeral and free shapes of the dancer’s body and the rigid, static and cold shapes of the buildings of this new city that is emerging.
